Cosmetic Bonding

A smiling couple with an apparently great dental routine.

Here at Family Tree Dental in the Marietta, Ohio area, we are able to provide cosmetic bonding for our patients looking to improve the look of their smile.  This is a simple procedure that can oftentimes be completed in just one visit!  Cosmetic bonding is completed by applying a tinted resin to your tooth to fix various dental imperfections.  It is a great alternative for individuals who do not want veneers that does not require grinding down your teeth.

The way we apply the resin for cosmetic bonding is by creating a rough surface on your teeth and then applying a bonding agent, which sticks better thanks to the newly roughened surface.  From there, we will apply the resin bonding and secure it with a UV light.

Do you believe you are a good fit for cosmetic bonding?  You may have one of the following imperfections on your teeth:

  • Decayed teeth
  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Discolored teeth
  • A small gap between teeth
  • Exposed roots
  • A tooth shorter than the others

Cosmetic bonding does not require any specific care after it is completed.  However, you should take care not to chew on anything that may crack the resin.  This includes chewing ice, on pens or pencils, or your fingernails.  You should also take care not to grind your teeth as well.  If you believe grinding your teeth may become a problem, such as while you are sleeping, we can help you get fitted for a mouth guard to wear at night.

Your cosmetic bonding should last for up to ten years after application, assuming you have proper oral hygiene habits.  If you do damage the bonding in some way or another – such as staining, cracking, or chipping the resin – we are able to fix these imperfections for you.  This way, the bonding is good as new!

If you are looking to improve your smile through cosmetic bonding, make sure you reach out to us here at Family Tree Dental in Marietta, Ohio.
